Overall patina suggesting some age, possibly early to mid 20th century. Please ask if you require a more detailed condition report, or view gallery images. A nice example of a Dogon granary door. Intricately carved out of a hard wood. A solid piece, with a good weight, and an overall patina suggesting early to mid 20th century manufacture. Such doors are usually situated at shoulder height, to allow access to the grain store, which itself would have been made of solid mud. Dogon doors are collected for their elaborate carving, which display a variety of deities, animal totems and other tribal symbols. They are now typically hung on walls as display pieces by collectors.
